High school Female coach accused of sex with teen girl
Leslie Danielle Dewitt, 31-year-old coach and teacher formerly at Hancock High School, Hancock County, Mississippi, has as been accused of engaging in sex acts and relationship with a 16-year-old girl.
Dewitt was arrested and charged with sexual battery of a child victim earlier this week. She was booked with three counts for actions authorities believe happened when she was a position of trust of a victim who was 16 at the time. DeWitt is a former educator and coach a various schools along the Gulf Coast. She was arrested at her home, which is in north Hancock County but has a Perkinston address.
The arrest came after an extensive investigation of a complaint alleging Dewitt was in a position of trust or authority when the sexual activity occurred. According to Sheriff Ricky Adam, the sexual activity between female teacher and her student was sporadic.
Leslie Dewitt was an assistant for the Hancock Lady Hawks basketball team but left that job after the 2010-11 school year. She became the girls coach and a special education teacher at Pearl River Central High in 2012, but reportedly resigned in January.
